PROCESS

Metal cans continue to be the most recycled form of packaging, far exceeding the recycling rates of glass and plastic.Metal food cans ara 100 percent recyclable. Steel food containers can be recycled again and without losing strength or quality.

MAKING A TWO-PIECE CAN :
Draw Reverse Drawn (DRD) is a traditional can making technology for making two-piece cans. The DRD method feeds a sheet into a cupping press. A round disc is cut and the circular blank is drawn into a die to form a shallow cup and then is redrawn on a second or third die to produce a can body of the desired dimensions. The process can be single or multi-lane. Sheet is coated and cured (and lithographed if required) prior to the forming process. Cans are packed into cartons or placed on pallets for delivery to customers.

END FORMING :
Sheet is fed into the end blanking press. A round disc is cut and the circular blank is fed into the shell press where forming, curling, and compound lining is done. The shell is then fed to theconvertion press where score and paneling are done, and tab is attached. The process can be single or multi-lane. Sheet is coated and cured (and lithographed if required) prior to the forming process. Finished ends are packed into tubes for delivery to customers.

MAKING A THREE-PIECE CAN :
Sheet is coated and cured (and lithographed if required). Then it is slit into individual body blanks (of desired can dimensions). Then the body blank is formed into cylinder and joined at their side seams by weld. The metal on both ends is rolled to form a flange on each end of the can. One end, top or bottom, depending on customer specifications, is double seamed on the can. A 100 percent inspection for any micro leak is given to every can. Cans are packed into cartons or placed on pallets for delivery to customers.
